Thoughts
to Ponder
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex…It
takes a touch of genius – and a lot of courage to move in
the opposite direction.
~ Albert Einstein
The truth of the matter is there’s nothing you can’t
accomplish if:
| (1)
You clearly decide what it is that you’re absolutely
committed to achieving, |
| (2)
You’re willing to take massive action, |
| (3)
You notice what’s working or not, and |
| (4)
You continue to change your approach until you achieve what
you want, using whatever life gives you along the way. |

has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered
heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because
they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.

American
Kids the Fattest in the World
U.S. kids are making headlines. Not for grades, not for anything
positive. It’s no wonder, our kids eat dead food without the
adequate enzymes and trace elements to support proper metabolism.
They get little to no exercise. And they are taking a daily thyroid
suppressant in the form of fluorine in water, toothpaste, and dental
treatments.
The statistics on obesity in kids are not surprising since the thyroid
gland is critical to proper metabolism and weight control. Read
on to find some ways you can help fight back.

Tips to Build and Maintain a Healthy Brain
EXERCISE
YOUR BRAIN AND HAVE FUN
A recent study examined the relation between leisure activities
and the risk of dementia in a prospective cohort of 469 subjects
older than 75 years of age. The results of their study suggested
that levels of participation in cognitive stimulating activities
such as playing board games (e.g. chess or checkers), playing bridge,
playing a musical instrument, dancing, reading or writing was associated
with a reduced risk of dementia over a 5 year follow-up period.
Crossword puzzles have also been recommended to help keep your mind
sharp and active, so break out that chess board or better yet learn
to dance salsa or tango.
EAT WELL
Eat lots of fresh foods and vegetables, particularly foods like
blueberries rich in antioxidants. Supplement your Omega 3 fatty
acids. We have some great products that help feed our brain. Omega
3 Basic, Greens First, and Cod Liver Oil. You can read more about
them on our website at www.healingsense.net/products.html.
COMBAT DEPRESSION
Many people who develop dementia had a prior episode of serious
depression. Seek help if you have serious concerns. Regular exercise
and social activities such as volunteering can improve energy levels,
reduce stress, boost self esteem and combat milder forms of depression.
GET OFF THE COUCH AND KEEP MOVING
Regular exercise and attention to physical fitness has dramatic
effects on chronic illnesses, stress reduction, a sense of well
being and may combat loss of brain function as we age. A recent
study reports robust declines in brain tissue densities as a function
as we age in the frontal, parietal, and temporal cortices among
subjects who engaged in regular aerobic activities. The authors
found that losses in these areas were substantially reduced as a
function of cardiovascular fitness, even when statistically controlled
for other moderator variables. These findings extend the scope of
beneficial effects of aerobic exercise beyond cardiovascular health,
and they suggest a strong solid biological basis for the benefits
of exercise on the brain health of older adults.
In addition to increasing blood flow to the brain, aerobic exercise
spurs growth of new brain cell “branches,” protects
the body against the stress response, and “burns off”
harmful stress hormones. Exercise causes the release of various
neurological and endocrinological secretions, including norepinephrine,
the stimulating brain chemical that serves as one of the most important
neurotransmitters involved in the laying down of new memories and
moving memories from short term to long term storage.
Everyone should engage in at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity
(e.g. walk, run, swim) at least three times per week. More is better,
and every day is the best.
LOSE THE STRESS
Stress takes a terrible toll on our bodies and our spirits. Extended
exposure to a stressful environment causes elevations in a hormone
called cortisol. When produced in excess, day after day, as a result
of unrelenting stress, cortisol kills and injures brain cells by
the billions, particularly brain cells associated with memory functions.
This is theorized to be the primary cause of brain degeneration
during the aging process. Learning how to manifest the “relaxation
response,” the exact opposite of the adrenal-driven “stress-response,”
is a critical survival skill. Any technique that can decrease your
stress is a valuable tool in brain longevity.
To reduce stress set aside time to relax and unwind. Consider using
relaxation techniques, music, journaling, meditation or prayer,
and most of all simplifying your life. These changes can have important
benefits for your mental health.

Diet,
Exercise can Help Ward off Arthritis
Osteoarthritis, the most common form, develops as cartilage that
cushions the joints wears away, leaving the ends of the bones rubbing
against each other. The Arthritis Foundation says X-rays can find
signs of osteoarthritis in most people over 60. Extra weight on
the cartilage brings extra risk of the joint disease because you’re
putting more biomechanical stress on the joints.
A survey from the CDC showed that the odds of joint pain went up
as weight did. People ages 60 and older had a 12% likelihood of
pain if they were underweight but a 60% chance if they were very
obese, according to a study in the October edition of the journal
Obesity Research.
Losing weigh can reduce the risk of developing arthritis, said Dr.
David Pisetsky, director of the Duke University Arthritis Center
and a medical adviser to the Arthritis Foundation. “There
is good evidence that people who are close tot their ideal weight
are going to have fewer problems,” he said.
Pisetsky also said overweight people ought to give special consideration
to physical activity because it offers protection beyond weight
loss. “Many tissues just perform better when they move or
bear weight,” he said. Cartilage benefits by being well fed.
It gets nutrients from fluids in the joint, and the nutrients can
be squeezed into the tissue by movement.
The reduced risk of arthritis by exercising muscle comes about differently.
For instance, muscles that protect the knee, one of the most common
sites for osteoarthritis, act as shock absorbers. Strengthening
them relieves pressure on the joint, Dr. Nicholas DiNubile, a clinical
associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.
At least one half hour a day of moderate activity such as brisk
walking, as the Surgeon General advises is good for cardiovascular
health. If people want to do more, possibly walking an hour and
adding some weight training, they may get more benefit.
People who already have arthritis also can gain from losing weight
and keeping their joints active, although they have to be more careful
about their activity. Exercises that pound joints, such as running,
are off-limits, but gliding movements are fine. Some good options
are water aerobics designed for people with arthritis, as well as
exercise bikes and elliptical trainers.
A good supplement for those with joint pain is the Omega 3 Basic
with glucosamine. Glucosamine is proven to support healthy joints.
The omega 3s will support cells and re-growth of tissues and support
around the joints. Also JMT treatment might be the right thing for
you if you are suffering from arthritis pain. This is a technique
that can help stop pain without drugs or supplements, and help you
return to your previous quality of life.

O-Zone:Victim or Volunteer
Thomas
Edison watched as his factories burned. It was a total loss. They
were all going down. His entire life’s work was quickly turning
to ash. How did he choose to see it? Was he going to be a victim/volunteer
or to be powerful and creative? He turned to his son and said, “Where
is your Mother?” “I don’t know,” his son
responded. “Go find her and bring her to me. She must see
this.” In a few minutes his wife and son hurried up to helplessly
watch the spectacle. “Thomas”, his wife asked between
rapid breaths, “are you okay?” “Look at this,”
he responded. “All of my mistakes are going up in flames.
I have no more mistakes to haunt me. I can start over with no mistakes.
I get to start again. This is fantastic.”
What? Did you read that right? I get to start over again? Not, I
have to start over again. Ten days later he discovered the grandfather
of the record player. Was he a victim? No! Was he a volunteer? No!
He chose to see it as a possibility. The amazing thing is life served
him exactly as he had chosen to see it. We are only victims of our
own thoughts and judgments.
So how does this fit with our health? Every symptom, every thought,
feeling, and sensation is a lesson to us. We can see it as torture,
or we can see it as discipline. We can experience the pain of discipline
in life or the pain of disappointment. We can create from our experiences
a better life or we can allow the challenge of pain to own us, harness
our thinking, and drag us from pain down the cliff into suffering.
You have the power to choose. You have the ability to form, from
the material of your experiences, what you want your life to be.
Guilt and contentment are made of the same material. Shame and self-love
are formed of the same clay. The material of life is less relevant
than the craftsman who shapes it, forms it, and sees in it the finished
product long before the material is ever worked upon. Whether you
realize it or not you are the craftsman. Decide how you want your
life to be, create it in your mind, and start acting that way. It
will become exactly what you believe it will become.

Tips
to Fight Back at Obesity in Kids
* Let your kids walk and bike to school and other places. Of course,
safety first, but let them get out and exercise. Kids are driven
everywhere these days, stop driving them so much.
* Dramatically limit children’s TV viewing. Support their
interest in sports and other physical endeavors. Maybe get them
interested in weight lifting, if they’re ready.
* Feed them real foods like meat, vegetables, fruits, raw milk and
cream, butter, and omega-3 fatty acids like in cod liver oil. This
oil will support the thyroid gland.
* Don’t eliminate salt from their diet. Use REAL salt. Celtic
Sea Salt is the best. Table salt is not a good thing.
* Limit sweets, breads, cereal, and all other PROCESSED foods. Throw
out your processed oils and salad dressings. Make your own with
first-pressed extra virgin olive oil and good balsamic or other
vinegar. Use good coconut oil for cooking.
* Limit antibiotic use, most antibiotic prescriptions are useless
for what’s wrong. Antibiotics only fight bacteria, not viruses.
Unfortunately, antibiotics can’t distinguish our good intestinal
bacteria from bad bacteria so they upset the balance in the gut.
Use natural remedies for fighting cold and flu.
*To get the fluorine out you will have to use a Reverse Osmosis
water purifier. Water Factory makes a good one. You can check out
the company at www.waterfactorysystems.com
