Greetings!
I just returned from the mountains to see my Father. What a
great trip. It was early in the year, the water is very high
because of a hot week last week and a fast snow melt, but
we still caught some very nice fish and saw some beautiful
country.Check out
this link to see the pictures.
The clouds were low, capping the mountains with a wispy
head of mist. The weather was cool and rainy most of the
time, but chest waders and a rain coat kept us dry and
warm. We fished until our hearts were content, enjoyed hot
dogs over a fire and yes, we did roast a couple
marshmallows. We sat on Bass Creek lookout with a great
view of the valley and the rugged peaks that watch over that
valley. That night the snow covered that area with a good
coating of the white fluffy stuff. We saw a young man and
woman backpacking back into the lake late that afternoon. I
bet they woke up to a tent heavy with snow and the green
mountain meadows white and clean with a layer of fresh
snow.
Enjoy the pictures and think about a health retreat we are
going to hold in the mountains probably mid summer next
year. If you are interested let me know. There will be
limited space and I am sure it will fill up soon.

Are you adapting to, supporting, or correcting the
real
problem?
Our Health is the foundation of all our life
experience. Each
day you create memories. The better your health,
the finer,
more desirable and choice will those memories be.
Good
health leads to greater optimism, more energy to do
more,
greater clarity about lifes potentials and purposes,
and the
ability to reach toward those noble possibilities.
There is no
life event that will not be finer and more special,
experienced
from a place of vibrant health than otherwise.
If you want your life to be the best it can be, you
must
approach the issue of health in all its 5 areas,
Spiritual,
Emotional, Nutritional, Structural, and Energetic.
Remember
that health is the ability to comprehend yourself in
your
environment, or circumstance as you really are in
each of
those areas. Lets abbreviate these 5 areas into
Health
SENSE. I think we can all agree that any symptom,
condition, pain, or otherwise unhealthy state is
caused by a
departure from a balanced and vibrant SENSE of
health. So
when you get a condition are you caring for the
SENSE, or
for the condition? Think about it. Is that elevated
blood
pressure a result of an imbalance, or the base level
problem?
Do you then adapt to it, support it, correct it or
aggravate it?
What about thyroid problems, back pain, headaches,
or
emotional problems? How do you deal with these
situations?
A vital question to ask yourself is the problem (like a
pain)
the problem or a result of the problem? If you think
the pain
is the problem, you will do all you can to get rid of
the pain,
at almost any cost. If you have the stomach, look
at this
video clip of what a spinal surgery can be like. Let
me warn
you it is disturbing and graphic. It goes to show
what lengths
people will go to try and fix the pain. Check out this website.
What about high blood pressure? This can be caused
by
stress. How does stress cause an elevation in the
blood
pressure? One mechanism is that chronic stress
secretes a
hormone called Cortisol. Cortisol forces blood from
the vital
organs to the muscular tissue as a response to help
us fight
or flea from our stressors. Eventually the organs
begin to be
starved of blood and accumulate toxins as a result of
poor
circulation. Blood pressure is raised as a last ditch
effort of
the body to provide more oxygen to the vital organs
and
purge out the heavy toxins that poison our system.
We
discover that our blood pressure is high and adapt to
it by
taking drugs for the rest of our lives to lower blood
pressure,
thus starving our vital internal organs of needed
nutrient and
actually facilitating the deadly accumulation of toxins
in our
vital organs. Is this a good choice? Why? because
you are
just adapting to a symptom rather than fixing the
problem.
What is the real problem? Stress.
Many drugs support our life style, but dont allow a
cure. We
must take them for the rest of our lives. Studies
show that
over 80% of all drug prescriptions are lifetime
prescriptions.
That means that they dont fix the problem, just help
us
adapt to certain aspects of it. But they do allow us
to live
with less doubt than before. The very popular drug
Lipitor is
an example of this response. Lipitor lowers
cholesterol. This
must be good isnt it? We have been told that
cholesterol
causes heart attacks. Is this right? Actually the
cause of
cholesterol plaquing on the inside of vessel walls has
more to
do with inflammation than with the cholesterol
levels. Out of
10,000 people studied, Lipitor had 6 fewer heart
attacks than
the placebo group. This is trumpeted as a
significant
reduction in the rate of heart attacks. 6 out of 10,
305 is a
significant reduction? This comes at a cost of over 9
billion
dollars a year, that amounts to more than 1 million
dollars
an hour, every hour, every day of the year.
Do you want to adapt, support or correct the
problem? How
do you correct it? What is the cause of the cause?
Look at
the symptom and go backwards. What in your
lifestyle can
create that problem. What manner of thinking?
What
imbalance in nutrition? What lack of spiritual
understanding?
What structural problem that is causing a nerve
system
imbalance? Is it an energetic problem? How do you
know?
Are you looking for the cause of the cause? Keep
asking
questions until you get to this level of reality. Then
set a
course to correct it and you will help to heal you
body mind
and spirit. An example of this is one lady, who was
seeking
care for infertility said that after getting healthier,
she
realized she didnt need to get pregnant to be whole
and
healthy. She elected not to have another child. Not
only
was her body healthier, but her mind was clearer and
her
self image more whole.
What do you want your life to be like? Identify the
factors
that you want in your life. Take just a minute.
Write them
down. If you really want a more complete life, you
will do
this now.
Now come in and lets create a plan to obtain the
health
needed to have that kind of life.
Welcome to summer, and may your life be more
whole and
complete than ever before.
If you were required to choose, which would you
choose:
A. Live to 70 years with a high quality of life.
B. Live to 100 with a poor quality of life.
Unless your over 70 the answer is easy. Almost 100
percent
of you would pick A. What does a high quality of life
mean
to you? What is it made of? No pain? The ability to
engage
in physical activity? The ability to care for you
children and
grandchildren? The ability to laugh? The ability to
share what
you learn in life? The awareness of what is going on
around
you, that matches what others dear to you
experience? The
ability to travel and visit different places in the
world? What
do you really value in life? Take a minute to
evaluate.
Now that you have thought about it, what do you
need to do
to ensure that you can achieve your goal? Pick the
five
aspects of health: Spiritual, Emotional, Nutritional,
Structural, and Energetic. Choose the steps in each
of these
attributes that will enhance your health to allow you
to feel
the freedom and have the power you need to
achieve your
goals and dreams.

Americans taking too many vitamins??
|
|
Americans may be taking too many vitamin
supplements in the
hope of staying healthy and living longer, a panel of
U.S.
experts say.
Some people need supplements though, for instance,
older
women benefit from taking calcium and vitamin D to
strengthen their bones, and younger women need to
take folic
acid to reduce birth defects in any children they may
have.
No study shows strongly that popping multivitamins
and
mineral supplements will help you proper, some
suggest that
eating healthy and exercising prodives more benefits.
"Half of American adults are taking multivitamins and
minerals
and the bottom line is that we don't know for
sure that
they're benefiting from them ," (so let's tell them
to stop
taking them, just because we don't know. (but let's
keep
taking tons of medication, even though we know it
kills at least
100,00 people a year by acceptable side effects.),
said Dr. J.
Michael McGinns, a senior scholor witht he Institue of
Medicine.
"In fact, we're concerned that some people may be
getting too
much of certain nutrients," (but too much of certain
drugs?)
added McGinnis, whose organization advises the
federal
government on health issues.
the 13 member panel included experts in nutrition,
biostatistics, biochemistry, toxicology, geriatric
medicine,
family medicine, pediatrics, cancer prevention,
consumer
protection, and other fields.
They said much more study was needed on vitamins
Americans
lacked in their dies and whether taking supplements
provided
actual benefits. (Then dont make statements on
what we need
or dont need until you know).
Many people may assume that because vitamins and
minerals
are vital for health, that more is better. But some
are toxic at
high levels, includint vitamin A and iron, and others
simply
excerted in the urine. Beta-carotene was shown in a
suprise
study to raise the risk on lung cancer in smokers.
The panel said anti-oxidant vitamins and zinc might
help
nonsmoking adults with early stage, age-related
macular
degeneration, which can cause blindness.
But many foods are fortified with vitamins and
minerals, so the
value of supplements is often questioned.
There are no good studies showing people who take
multivitamin or mineral supplements can prevent
chronic
diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
Many of the studies that suggest a protective effect
also show
that people who take citamins ten to take of their
health in
other ways, such as eating plenty of fruits and
vegetables,
excersing and not smoking, so it is difficult to
determine
whether the vitamins were responsible for health
benefits.

Diabetes Triples Risk of Early Death
|
|
|
Diabetes raises early death in young adults by 300 percent,
according to shocking British study.
The study involved 264,000 people found that young adults
between the ages of 35 - 54 having type 2 diabetes boosted the
likelihood of early death by 300 percent.
Dr. Henrietta Muliner of Surrey University, head researcher of
the study, said that the results shows how dangerous type 2
diabetes is, and how important early detection is going to be.
"With people being diagnosed with type 2, younger and
younger, the figures are only going to worsen," Dr. Muliner
said.

Hidden Benefits of Exercise
|
|
While most people exercise to lose weight or get in shape, for
teenagers evidence suggests there's considerably more to
regular exercise than weight control. In fact, a recent survey
has found that teenagers who make a habit out of exercise and
physical activity are more likely to adapt other positive habits,
while avoiding negative ones.
In the survey, researchers asked nearly 12,000 middle- and
high-school students to report how often they had participated
in various activities in the previous week, including playing
sports, using local recreation centers, skating or skateboarding,
bicycling, watching television, and playing video games. The
students also provided information about their grades, self-
esteem, and other behaviors. Compared to teenagers whose
primary activities were watching TV and playing video games,
teenagers who exercised five or more times per week were:
- less likely to have sex, including unprotected sex.
- less likely to smoke cigarettes.
- less likely to drink alcohol or drive while drunk.
- less likely to use illegal drugs other than marijuana.
- less likely to miss time away from school.
- less likely to have a low self-esteem.
- more likely to wear a seat belt while driving.
- more likely to get "A" grades in math and science.
- more likely to get a good night's sleep.
- more likely to do household chores and to have summer
jobs outside the home.
As this survey shows, there are definite benefits to regular
exercise that can't be measured on a scale. So what are
you waiting for? Turn off that TV , tell your
children to put down the video games , and get
them moving .
Talk to your chiropractor for more information on appropriate
exercise guidelines for your family.
